From the Editor

Firstly on behalf of me and the rest of the committee I would like to welcome Judith (G4IAQ) as our new treasurer, details of Judith’s experience can be found in the last newsletter. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Anne for all the time and hard work she has given to BYLARA over the years and to wish her well for the future.

I hope that everyone who has seen the website is pleased with it (www.bylara.net) let me have your feedback and any news, links or articles that you would like to see on it, and please sign the guest book. We have loads of web space so if have other hobbies that you would like to tell our members about i.e. needlework, photography, send me the photos and a few words and we can expand the site and let the world know how diverse the membership is.

I am starting an Open University course next month in Information Technology and Computing so that should keep me out of trouble and busy on the cold winter nights, hoping to make a career change as the politics in health care are getting too much for me.

We were quite short on contributions for this newsletter so please send me you news and thoughts, otherwise I am going to have to start publishing recipes out of my SPAM™ recipe book J

Here are the results of the Midwintercontest 2005!

It took me some time, because our computer crashed, just when I was about to process all data…Luckily we were able to retrieve all data from the computer and finally here are the results!

The number of contestants was at an all time low…The conditions were very poor in this years Midwintercontest, but still I hoped for some more entries! There were 30 logs in total, most of them I received by Email. Because of the low number of participants, I have made the following change in the contest rules:

Places 1, 2 and 3 in every category will be rewarded with a certificate. If there are less then 10 participants in the category only number 1 will receive a certificate.

This change of rules will be valid next year, so this year every number 1, 2 or 3 will get their award. I hope you understand, after all, where is the sport to win if there are only 3 participants in a certain category?

I decided to send back the results via Email to those who have sent me their logs via Email. The winners (for the award) and the logs I received by post will receive the results by regular mail. This will cut back some of the postage costs!

PI4YLC was active on both days in CW and SSB, but did not make very much QSO’s, due to the bad conditions on HF that weekend!

The QSL cards will reach all of you via the buro later this year; I haven’t been able to design this years qsl-cards yet.

Hope to hear you all again in next years contest,
